KUANTAN: European countries have much to offer local students keen to pursue tertiary education abroad, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said.
He said it was time to consider Switzerland, Belgium and Norway, which offered studies in science and technology, hotel and catering, tourism and environment management.
In fact, our own reforestation programme which we implemented here was from experts from the European countries.
Switzerland has been known for its excellent hotel and catering management courses in addition to tourism while other European countries have sound development in science and technology, he said after receiving a courtesy call by Swiss ambassador to Malaysia Dr Peter A. Schweizer, Belgium ambassador Roland Van Remoortele and Norway ambassador Arild Eik at Hyatt Regency Hotel here yesterday.
Van Remoortele said Malaysian students generally go to the UK, Australia or New Zealand to pursue their studies because people there speak English.
Language can be a problem if you go to study in Belgium, for instance, where one will have to speak Dutch, French or German.
However, you can still pursue your tertiary education in English there and it is much cheaper than what you have to pay for in the UK, said Van Remoortele.
