KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 77,096 new voters have registered with the Election Commission (EC) in the first quarter of this year.
EC chairman Datuk Wira Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman said Terengganu registered the largest number with 11,098 voters, followed by Kedah (10,056) and Selangor (9,075).
Meanwhile, 23,274 voters changed their addresses, according to a press statement yesterday.
During the same period, 26,471 names were removed from last year's Master Electoral Roll due to, among others, revocation of citizenship, death and retirement from the police and army.
The EC confirmed the nationwide first quarter Additional Electoral Roll was gazetted yesterday.
“The proposed Electoral Roll is in line with Rule 22 of the Election Regulation (Voters Registration) 2002,” said Abdul Rashid.
The public can buy the electoral roll, according to state, parliament or state constituency, from the EC or state election office. – Bernama
