KUCHING: The rural-urban drift in Sarawak is gaining momentum, with 75% of the state population expected to live in urban areas by 2010, said Social Development and Urbanisation Minister Datuk Dr James Masing.
He said only 18% of the population lived in towns in 1980 and this figure shot up to 37.5% in 1991 and 48.1% in 2000.
