KUALA LUMPUR: Renowned Malaysian conductor Datuk Ooi Chean See was conferred the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit by the German Government for her tireless efforts in promoting Malaysian-German relations through classical music.
Born in Penang, Ooi started playing the piano and violin at a tender age. At the age of 18, she packed her bags and left for Germany to further her music studies.
