BANGKOK: Asean leaders huddled in an emergency summit here today to stem the spread of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) are also expected to discuss the devastating economic impact of the mysterious disease that has killed more than 300 people and infected more than 5,000 people in 26 countries.
The global cost of SARS had been estimated at almost US$30bil (RM114bil), according to the latest edition of Time magazine.
