JOHOR BARU: A Malaysian man who sneaked out of the SARS-designated Tan Tock Seng hospital in Singapore to return here has been warded at Sultanah Aminah Hospital on Friday.

The man, in his 20s, managed to evade screening at checkpoints but health authorities here found him at his girlfriend's house in Johor Jaya.

He and his girlfriend, who also came down with fever, were taken to the hospital in an ambulance and immediately put under quarantine.

It was not known which checkpoints the man had used and when he left the republic.

State Health Committee chairman Datin Halimah Mohamed Sadique said she had been informed of the matter but could not provide more details.
