PETALING JAYA: Police will first have to verify if the personalities or “stars” featured in a pornographic VCD dressed as stewards and stewardesses of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), are indeed from the national carrier, Sepang OCPD Supt Zahedi Ayob said.

”Right now we are just trying to get the details like names and addresses of those featured in the VCD so that we can proceed with our investigations.

“News reports in several newspapers stating that we have quizzed several MAS staff are not true and baseless,”he said, adding that their first task would be to identify and call up the woman who is featured in the opening scene, walking out of the galley, laughing, joking and even blowing a kiss towards the camera.

Supt Zahedi said that so far, Sepang police had received only one report from a stewardess on March 25, claiming that her photo had been circulated on the Internet.

The Malaysian Airlines System Employees Union Peninsular Malaysia (MASEU) secretary-general Ab Malek Ariff denied that any MAS staff was featured in the VCD.

On the scenes showing cabin crew in the galley of the aircraft, he said those could have been merged with the pornographic scenes to make it appear like the same people were involved.

He said so far three cabin crew had lodged police reports over the galley scene and they were all on leave.

Ab Malek said that a steward featured in the pornographic scenes, however, was a former cabin crew member whose contract was not renewed in 1999.

Asked about the footage showing those involved wearing MAS uniforms, Ab Malek said the material used was quite common and could be purchased in night markets.

Ab Malek expressed concern over the possibility of MAS staff facing more sexual harassment on flights as a result of this episode.

In Penang, the VCD purportedly involving MAS crew members and another allegedly featuring a couple from Bukit Mertajam are selling like “hot cakes.”

It is learnt that the 45-minute VCD on the couple was said to have been recorded in a secluded part of a forest without their knowledge.
