PETALING JAYA: Police have begun investigating reports of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) cabin crew staff allegedly being featured in a 40-minute pornographic VCD.

A 29-year-old stewardess alleged to be one of the people in the VCD entitled Kehidupan Seorang Pramugari Yang Terlampau (Excessive Lifestyle of a Stewardess) lodged a police report three weeks ago at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) police station, claiming that several unscrupulous people were out to tarnish her image.

The VCD also shows four other women and a man – purportedly MAS crew members – performing sexual acts.

Sepang OCPD Supt Zahedi Ayob said police had begun investigating the case under Section 509 of the Penal Code that covers acts or gestures intended to insult a person.

Police have yet to establish the identity of the four women and the male crew member and would be calling in several people to record their statements.

The recording is believed to have been done in January 1999, according to the digital date in the video, but the VCDs have been in circulation over the last two months.

MAS has also lodged a police report on the matter and said it was working closely with the police in their investigations.

“With regards to the sensitive nature of the issue and the modern technology involved in video imaging, MAS has lodged the report and views the matter seriously,” it said in a statement.

MAS also said the airlines had always emphasised to its employees the need to observe contractual terms and conditions of employment both in written and implied form, which included protecting the image of their profession and the company.
