42% drop in rail passengers between M’sia and S’pore

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of train passengers between Malaysia and Singapore has dropped by 42% following the outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in several countries. 

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) senior manager for corporate communication Azizah Ujang said some 4,000 people were previously travelling to the republic each week while another 3,400 were heading to Malaysia from the republic before the SARS outbreak.
