KUALA LUMPUR: A cashier was found murdered at a snooker centre in Bandar Baru Ampang on Friday.

Cheah Wai Lee, 23, believed to have been attacked with a blunt object, had severe head injuries. Her body was found near a slot machine at the back of the shop in Jalan Wawasan 2/3 at 9.40pm.

Ampang Jaya CID chief Deputy Supt Radin Roslan Radin Shuadi said yesterday Cheah’s colleague found her lying in a pool of blood.

“Her wallet and cellular phone were missing but some cash was still left at the counter. We are investigating the motive of the murder,’’ he said, adding that Cheah was not raped.

A friend of Cheah's, who declined to be named, said she went to see her at about 2.30pm but the shop was closed.

“I tried to call her phone but there was no answer,” she said when met at the mortuary of Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia yesterday.

Police appealed to eyewitnesses to contact DSP Radin Roslan or Asst Supt Teng Kim Bah at 03-4252 2222.
