PENANG: About five billion sticks of cigarettes were smuggled into the country in 2001, Confederation of Malaysian Tobacco Manufactures (CMTM) chief executive Shaik Abbas Ibrahim said.
He said the figure included imitation cigarettes, which comprised 4% of the total figure, 8% of white cigarettes and 9% of kretek (clove cigarettes).
