KUCHING: Sarawak has turned down a recent offer to host the Miss World pageant due to inadequate facilities but will be ready to stage it in 2005 or 2006 when its proposed 5,000-seater convention centre is built.

State Tourism Minister Datuk Abang Johari Tun Openg said he had counter-proposed that the prestigious pageant be held in Malaysia in two to three years when Sarawak could put up a good show for the world audience.
