KANGAR: Twenty-eight supermodels from various provinces in southern China will visit Perlis from April 14 to 16 to help the tourism authorities here promote the state.
They would take part in filming and photography sessions in various tourism locations such as the state and snake parks and in village settings while sporting traditional attire and the latest fashions, said State Tourism Action Council general manager Dr Rahimatsah Amat in an interview.
On the impact of SARS on the models, some of whom are said to be from Guangdong, the city reported to be the origin of the contagious flu-like virus, he said the models and their crew had undergone medical tests.
They had been in the country for the past 10 days and none of the delegation and crew has reported any illness or signs of SARS, he said.
Thus, he said, residents need not be unduly alarmed with the presence of the supermodels, who would have an audience with the Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail and a meeting with Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and his wife.
