KUALA LUMPUR: Policemen and officers are advised to wear masks and gloves when conducting anti-vice raids to avoid contracting the SARS virus.

City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dell Akbar Khan said as a safety precaution, they had been instructed to wear masks and gloves when raiding nightclubs and similar outlets.

Asked how the police would deal with foreign women suspected to be involved in vice-activities and believed to have been in contact with the SARS virus, DCP Dell said:

“The personnel will query the women, especially those from China, whether they have had the symptoms since coming into the country.

“We then will refer them to the hospitals for a medical check-up.”

DCP Dell said anti-vice operations would continue as usual.
