Abdullah launches Malacca BN's Iraq fund

MALACCA: Acting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi launched a humanitarian fund for Iraq initiated by the state Barisan Nasional. 

The fund was launched during the annual general meeting (AGM) of Batu Berendam Umno division. 

A total of RM212,000 has been collected to date and the state Barisan is targeting a figure of RM640,000 for the fund at the rate of RM1 per person for Malacca’s population of 640,000. 

The state MCA has donated RM30,000 to the fund, Gerakan RM10,000, MIC RM10,000 and People’s Progressive Party RM10,000. 

In addition, Jasin Umno contributed RM22,000, Alor Gajah Umno RM26,000, Kota Melaka Umno RM16,000, Batu Berendam Umno RM31,000 and Batu Berendam Wanita Umno RM10,000. 

An emergency motion was also passed during the AGM condemning the invasion of Iraq and calling for the war to be stopped immediately.
