KUALA LUMPUR: While 90% of Malaysians place the environment on the top of their list of concerns, only a third or 30% make any effort to conserve the environment around them, according to a recent international online survey.

“While they profess to being environmentally-conscious, they are not committed to the environment and their concerns are not seen in practice,” Science, Technology and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Law Hieng Ding told reporters after presenting 21 secondary school students with the “Nature Warrior” awards at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong near here yesterday.
