KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian authorities managed to free 1,000 Malaysian students in Egypt who were being “held captive” by a Malaysian student body there over the past year.
Deputy Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin said the Malay Society Republic of Arab-Egypt (PMRAM) controlled all Malaysian students the minute they set foot in Egypt and denied them the freedom to mix around with Arab and other students.
