Malaysia to host awards show

KUALA LUMPUR: The third annual Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) awards ceremony, to be held in Malaysia for the first time, will take place at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil tomorrow.  

This awards presentation, which recognises Malay music and artistes from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, is organised by Mediacorp Radio Singapore stations, Warna and Ria, in association with Malaysian event management company Beyond DDB. 

“Preparations for the awards show on Saturday are going as planned,” said Beyond DDB's general manager Amin Hussen at a press conference yesterday. 

He also welcomed artistes from Indonesia and Singapore who arrived in Malaysia for the ceremony. 

There will be 16 categories in the show, including Best Song, Best Artiste and Best Album. 

Among the nominees are Liza Hanim, Siti Nurhaliza, Yasin, Flop Poppy and Exist from Malaysia, Kris Dayanti, Dewa and Sheila on 7 from Indonesia and Thaqif, Ramli Sarip and Jai from Singapore. 

Ning Baizura and Siti Nurhaliza, Thaqif from Singapore and Shanty and Marcell from Indonesia will sing at the event. 

Hosts would include MTV deejay Sarah Sechan from Indonesia, Singaporean Najip Ali and Malaysians Aznil Nawawi and Linda Onn. 

Tickets priced at RM30 and RM50 can be bought at all Power Station music outlets in the Klang Valley and at the main entrance of the stadium.  

The awards ceremony will be aired live on Astro Ria while NTV7 will air a delayed telecast.
