IPOH: A female sundry shop owner and a male restaurateur were fined RM10,000 and RM5,000 respectively by the magistrate's court here yesterday after they pleaded guilty to separate charges of using the services of foreign workers loaned from other employers.
Sundry shop owner Yaw Song Lan, 41, was fined RM10,000 in default of six months' jail for making two Indonesians – Ninik Heryanti, 33, and Sriyanti, 27 – work in her shoplot at the Gunung Rapat market in Kampung Baru Gunung Rapat, here, at about 10am on Feb 5. They had visit passes to work as maids for Yip Hon Meng and Chin Yeak Fan.
