Sultan to confer awards on 83

SHAH ALAM: The Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad head the list of 83 people who will be conferred awards by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on March 17 in conjunction with his installation and coronation ceremony today. 

Sultan Mizan, who is also Sultan of Terengganu, and Dr Mahathir will be bestowed the Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Dihormati (DK1).  

The Sultan's younger brother, Tengku Sulaiman Shah, will be conferred the DKII, the sole recipient of the award. 

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Samsudin Osman is the sole recipient of the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) which bears the title Dato' Seri, while Sultan Sharafuddin's eldest daughter, Tengku Zerafina, is the only person to be bestowed the Dato' Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah award, which carries the title Datin Paduka Setia. 

Selangor CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Noor Hamat heads the list of 10 recipients of the Dato' Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) award, which carries the title Dato'.  

Others receiving the DPMS are Datuk Chamil Wariya of TV3, Federal Territory CPO Deputy Comm Dell Akbar Khan, academician Prof Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin and Gombak Umno division chief Ahmad Bujang. 

Recipients of the DPMS include Datuk Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, Lim Kheng Guan, Datuk Sulaiman Abu Bakar, S. Thanarajasingam and Zainudin Zainal Abidin. 

The Star's executive editor Datuk Wong Chun Wai and Richard Curtis, a childhood friend of Sultan Sharafuddin, are among 14 people bestowed the Dato' Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS) award, which carries the title Dato'. 

Other recipients of this award are businessman Datuk Francis Chang-Hsun Huang, Klang Municipal Council president Mohd Sharif Yusof, academicians Prof Dr Mohamed Shariff Mohd Din and Prof Dr Mohd Razali Agus, Dr Mohd Kassim Ali, Termuzi Abdul Aziz, Ibrahim Mohd Yusof, Johari Abdul Ghani, Liew Poon Siak, Voon Tin Yow and Raja Uzair Tengku Zainon Rashid Shah. 

Among the 13 people conferred the Setia Mahkota Selangor (SMS) are Kuala Selangor OCPD Supt Mohd Azmir Mohd Nadzri, Mohd Suffian Abdul Aziz, Rosni Rahmat, Tan Auw Hock, V. Subramaniam and Zakaria Abdul Hamid.  

Those awarded the Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SIS) include Subang Jaya Municipal Council deputy president Arpah Abdul Razak, Gan Ah Fook @ Fan Keng Hong, D. Gnanasambantham , Hamzah Puniman, Lim Yow Tuan @ Lim Say Hoe, Nasimah Ahmad, Rohani Sham and Wong Yien Kim. 

Recipients of the Ahli Mahkota Selangor (AMS) award include Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Abdul Malek Harun, Puas senior manager for Klang/Shah Alam Mohd Wahid Mohd Nor, Tan Ishak of the Information Department (Selangor), Shah Alam MCA vice-chairman Goh Chong Beng, Indian Progressive Front national youth chief M. Sambanthan , Ahmad Apandi Samsudin, Aminah Abdul Rahman, Datin Sulaimah Marji, Qwee Kiaw Boon, Wan Rabiah Wan Mohd Yusof and Wong Kuan Feng. 

Sultan Sharafuddin's Special Officer Adnan Abdullah, Klang district police head of management DSP Harjinder Kaur and The Star's Klang bureau journalist Elantiraian Perumal are among 13 recipients of the Ahli Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (AIS) award. 

Others awarded the AIS are P. Balakrishnan , Chan Heng Chai, Lee Boon Siew, Mazalan Mohd Noor, Mislan Tugiu, Nor Sam Saring, Puah Siew Chieng, N. Subramaniam , Suparyatnoh Samuthi and Tan Jit Neow. 

The two recipients of the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (BPC) medal are Mohd Hilal Rabingan and Siti Fatimah Mohd Jais.
