KUALA LUMPUR: It was the first face-to-face meeting between the top two estranged leaders of the MTUC since December when congress president Senator Zainal Rampak paid a courtesy call on his deputy, Mohamed Shafie B.P. Mammal, who had just returned from his haj.

Although it appeared cordial with the two indicating they had buried the hatchet, the undercurrent showed that neither was prepared to give in.
