KOTA KINABALU: At least 3,000 people were made homeless when a fire that started late Monday night destroyed some 500 houses at two seaside villages built on stilts in the east coast Semporna district.
Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal, also Semporna MP, said there were no casualties in the blaze, which destroyed 80% of the houses in Kampung Bangau Bangau and Kampung Bersila.
