KUANTAN: The issue of a film production company clearing land near Gunung Brinchang in Cameron Highlands has been blown out of proportion, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said here yesterday.

He said the approval was attached with conditions to minimise damage to the environment.

“The matter is not an issue to me.

“In fact, the filming is a form of good publicity to attract tourists to Cameron Highlands,” Adnan told reporters after addressing the monthly gathering of civil servants at Wisma Sri Pahang.

He was commenting on reports about the land clearing by the company, Enfiniti Productions Sdn Bhd, to film the movie Puteri Gunung Ledang, which was highlighted by the Society of Regional Environment Awareness of Cameron Highlands (REACH).

Adnan said written approval was not immediately available as the district forest officer was on leave when the company faxed in its application form.

“As such, a forest ranger on duty discussed the matter with the district officer, who has been monitoring the area since Feb 25, and a verbal approval was given,” he said.
