SEREMBAN: The Education Ministry will work with the Health Ministry to intensify efforts in disseminating information and creating awareness on dengue fever to schools nationwide.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim said the ministry had directed schools nationwide to monitor the development of dengue fever.

He said school heads had also been told to keep their premises free of aedes mosquitoes.

“Eradication of breeding grounds should be carried out by principals although the source of the problem may not come from the school compound,” he said.

Hon said students with symptoms of dengue fever should be allowed to return home to seek medical attention promptly.

School authorities could also initiate their own awareness campaigns and gotong-royong to weed out mosquito-breeding grounds, he added.
