PAKISTANI President Pervez Musharraf has struck a conciliatory tone towards Indian leader Atal Behari Vajpayee a day after enraging him by referring to the “oppressed peoples of Kashmir” in a speech to the Non-Aligned Movement.
Musharraf’s comments on Monday had prompted Vajpayee to depart from his prepared address to launch a tirade against the Pakistani leader, accusing Islamabad of sponsoring Muslim militants in the disputed Himalayan region.
