Three held for spate of robberies

JOHOR BARU: Three men who impersonated policemen and used a pistol-like lighter to rob their victims were arrested in Taman Century last Sunday.  

They were among 11 people arrested in the past week for their involvement in snatch thefts and robbing mini markets and convenience stores here and in Kluang. 

Johor Deputy OCCI Asst Comm Zulkifli Abdullah said the three, in their 20s, who were picked up with a female companion, could be behind at least 16 cases of impersonating police officers. 

On Thursday, police detained six members of a gang behind robberies at mini marts and 24-hour convenience stores in Kluang. 

ACP Zulkifli said police are looking for three men to assist in investigations. 

They are M. Fazil A. Ismail @ “Boy” (IC No. 760725-01-7179), last known address –Kedai Kusyen Tambi, Batu 36, Jalan Johor, Pontian and two others known as “Alun” and “Man.”
