SUNGAI PETANI: Kedah police have arrested six members of a syndicate responsible for 70 robbery cases and burglaries in factories and godowns nationwide, involving goods worth some RM1mil.

The syndicate, with 24 members still at large, was involved in robbery and burglaries in factories and godowns in Kedah, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak and Perlis since early 2000.

The six suspects, aged between 21 and 43, were nabbed in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, in Kuala Lumpur and here between Jan 28 and Feb 11.

State CID chief Asst Comm Abdul Jalal Mohd Yunus said with their arrests, police had solved 45 robbery cases and burglaries in Kuala Muda, Kota Star, Pendang and Kulim.

ACP Abdul Jalal said yesterday investigations showed that security alarm sys-

tems installed in the burgled factories were not up to the mark.

He said police were seeking the help of seven people – Abdul Ghani Awang, 40; Abdul Aziz Awang, 33; Abdul Rashid Ahmad, 37; Kasim, Guna and Shahbudin in their 30s; and Azmi aka Me Tulang, 31 – to help investigations into the case.

Those with information should call Deputy Supt Badaruddin at 04-422 2222.
