TAIPING: The Perak MCA will utilise the Internet as an additional tool to disseminate information and counter opposition propaganda in the run-up to the next general election, said its chairman Datuk Ong Ka Chuan.

Ong said speed was essential during the campaigning period and computers would be an ideal tool to help the party election machinery gets its message faster to the people.

“We don’t know when the general election will be held but we started computer lessons last month for about 100 activists,” he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year open house hosted by state exco member Datuk Ho Cheng Wang here yesterday.

Ong said a similar session would be held this month and party members who have some basic IT knowledge were welcomed to sign up.

At the function, Ho who is also Pokok Assam state assemblyman, received about 30,000 signatures for the Malaysians for Peace campaign.

The signatures, he said, were collected by members from MCA divisions from northern Perak.
