ALOR STAR: Rice farmer Zakaria Mat works hard on his padi field using traditional methods of growing and harvesting which are no longer popular in the state, not to feed the rest of his countrymen but the birds of the air.
He is growing a special padi, one third the size of the normal padi grain, which is bringing him better income from the birds than the normal padi.
