Ministry: Buy padi directly

KEPALA BATAS: The Agriculture Ministry will allow Area Farmers Associations to buy padi from farmers to ease congestion at Bernas complexes during the harvest season.

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar said yesterday licences would be issued to about 100 associations nationwide to buy padi from farmers who could not sell their crops to Bernas and private millers.
