KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese tourists to Malaysia will soon be greeted by non-Chinese tour guides who speak Mandarin as the Government plans to attract more Malays, Indians, Dayaks, Ibans and others who speak the language to join the industry.
Deputy Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen said non-Chinese Mandarin speakers would make excellent tour guides as it would leave a lasting impression on Chinese tourists, who have become a major market for the tourism industry in recent years.
