JOHOR BARU: Patients with mental illnesses should not be locked up in asylums but instead be allowed to mingle with society, especially among supportive individuals, said Dr Abdul Kadir Abu Bakar, a consultant psychiatrist at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
He said putting such patients in an asylum would create an artificial environment for them.
