BAHAU: A four-year-old boy was killed and his father injured seriously when an express train rammed into their motorcycle in Kampung Felcra Rompin, 39km from here, yesterday.

Mohd Faizi Salleh was killed on the spot. Police had to use a shovel to scoop up his remains, which were scattered along the railway track.

It is learnt that the boy and his father, Salleh Badin, a 43-year-old settler, were on their way to a relative’s house in Kampung Baru Rompin nearby.

Salleh decided to cross the railway line at Kampung Felcra Rompin as a shortcut and did not notice the oncoming train.

The express train travelling from Gemas to Tumpat rammed into the motorcycle and dragged Mohd Faizi, who was sitting in front, for almost 50m.

OCPD Supt Mohd Faisal Shah Rawi said Salleh sustained serious head and body injuries and had been warded at Kuala Pilah Hospital.

He urged settlers not to risk their lives by crossing railway lines.
