Prove your allegations, Rajasekaran tells affiliates

PETALING JAYA: MTUC secretary-general G. Rajasekaran has urged affiliates, which claim that he has issued inconsistent statements and taken sides with deputy president Mohd Shafie BP Mammal, to prove their allegations.

“I stand by whatever I say and their allegations are unwarranted and uncalled for because they have no evidence.

“I have said that Mohd Shafie does not automatically become president once Zainal steps down because the general council will elect and it can elect anybody. Prove where I have been inconsistent otherwise it's an abuse of the process,'' he said yesterday.

He was responding to news reports that five MTUC affiliates wanted to table a no-confidence motion against him, for allegedly failing to defuse the power struggle between congress president Senator Zainal Rampak and Mohd Shafie.

The unions are the All-Malayan Estates Staff Union, National Union of Commercial Workers, Union of Beverage Industry Workers, Klang Port Management Staff Union and Printing Industries Employees Union.
