Keliru wins Song of the Year award

KUALA LUMPUR: The local duo of Nurul and Ajai emerged as the big winner for TV3's Anugerah Juara Lagu 2002 at Merdeka Hall in Putra World Trade Centre yesterday. 

Their rendition of Keliru won them the event's coveted Song of the Year award and a cash prize of RM25,000. 

The pair also emerged as the best in the pop rock category. 

Siti Nurhaliza was the next big winner, clinching two awards.

She won awards in the Best Performance and Creative Ethnic (Irama Malaysia) categories. 

Another winner was Liza Hanim, who received the Best Vocal award introduced in this year's competition. She walked away with RM10,000 and a trophy. 

Ziana Zain triumphed in the Ballad category. 

The awards ceremony had three categories – Pop Rock, Ballad and Creative Ethnic. The winners in each category walked away with RM12,000 and a trophy. 

The show featured performances by V.E., Ruff Edge and Swara who rendered medleys of the 12 contesting songs.  

It was hosted by Ary Malik and Intan Suraya.
