NEW DELHI: India must practise a more balanced and even-handed way of dealing with its diaspora instead of merely emphasising on non-resident Indians (NRIs) who mainly live in the West.
Eminent British academic Lord Bhikhu Parekh said India’s interest in its older diaspora was largely cultural, patchy and somewhat patronising as opposed to its political and economic driven interest in the NRIs.
