MIRI: The state authorities have been urged to settle all outstanding land claims and monetary compensation with the relocated Bakun folk as soon as possible as some of them have waited almost five years for payment.
Sahabat Alam Malaysia co-ordinator for Sarawak Thomas Jalong said several groups of longhouse folk, now living in the Bakun resettlement scheme in Sungai Asap, recently complained that the authorities had yet to even survey their ancestral land in the original settlements upriver.
