PETALING JAYA: A miscommunication between Zurich airport ground control and a ground de-icing co-ordinator may have led to a Malaysia Airlines jetliner rolling into two airport vehicles at Zurich airport on Sunday, said a preliminary report.
A statement issued by the Malaysia Airlines corporate communications department yesterday said that Federal Swiss Aircraft Accident was investigating the 3.45pm incident which occurred when the aircraft was to de-ice at the dedicated de-icing bay before takeoff.
It said the airport authority had introduced a new procedure for remote de-icing on Jan 1.
All 212 passengers and crew of the airline's flight MH 009 were unhurt but the aircraft's wings were damaged and the flight had to be cancelled.
