TUARAN: Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said yesterday that Puteri Umno members should exercise patience in their bid to venture into mainstream politics.

She said there were many Wanita Umno members who served the party for decades without expectations of becoming “YBs.”

“There are many kakak (elder sisters) who have served for decades but have not asked to be selected to contest for seats,” Rafidah said at a Hari Raya gathering organised by Tuaran Wanita Umno here.

She said that Wanita Umno members outnumber their Puteri counterparts by a ratio of more than 10 to one.

Noting that Puteri Umno members would become Wanita Umno members after they reach the age of 35, Rafidah said the Puteri movement was there to enable members to attain politically maturity.
