SUNGAI PETANI: While primary schools in Kedah were busy handling Year One pupils who started their first day in school yesterday, the situation was a lot quieter at SJK (C) Hoon Bong in Kota Kuala Muda, near Sungei Petani as not a single Year One pupil turned up.
The school’s headmaster Choy Khye Sinn said only a Malay boy registered for Year One in his school this year but he did not turn up.
