The front page of the new-look Star.

Dear readers,

Once in a long while, there is a need for a makeover to remain relevant and contemporary.

The last time there was a major redesign of The Star was more than 10 years ago and eventhen, the changes were confined largely to the different pullouts. The masthead was leftalmost untouched.

Today, however, we unveil a brand new frontpage. But, the masthead while taking on a fresh look is immediately recognisable as your trusty old friend of 30 years – The Star, The People’s Paper.

Inside, you ’ll find improvements in content, design and layout; more colour, more value and we hope, more heart and soul.

For those of you who have followed ourdevelopments closely you would realise thatThe Star has been evolving over the last oneyear, beginning with the highly successfulrevamp of Star Metro for the Klang Valley.

This was followed by the introduction of theweekly business magazine, Bizweek, and thewell-received three-section Sunday magazine –StarMag, Variety and Fit For Life.

And finally, beginning with this New Yearedition, we present you our entire new millennium package.

We sincerely hope you will like it. But, ofcourse,it doesn ’t mean that our job is done.Everyday, we’ll strive to make The Star a better read.

Happy New Year!
