No ritual performed in dance, says Sarawak arts council

The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Sarawak Arts Council stressed that no ritual was performed onstage when a group of dancers were struck by hysteria on Saturday night. Easter Melebeh was commenting on the mass hysteria which affected 10 dancers midway through their performance at the Festival Pratikum Seni 2017 held at the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in Kuching. According to the Malay tabloid, an ustaz was called to the scene to calm the dancers down. Easter denied claims that the incident had anything to do with another group's dance routine, "Mencari Puteri Yang Hilang", which featured traditional Melanau healing ritual.
