Balloon-powered internet for Ulu Baram village


A rural village in Ulu Baram, near Miri, Sarawak, has been chosen as a test site for balloon-powered internet. Telung Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau revealed that Kampung Long San was selected to test the internet service in rural and remote areas.  He said the success of the pilot project would allow thousands of villagers access the the World Wide Web. "The programme, a collaboration between the Sarawak government and Silicon Valley in California, United States, has selected SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau to carry out the test as suggested by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg," Ngau said.
