Police rescued a Bangladeshi man who was locked up and allegedly tortured by his former employer in Sungai Petani last weekend. The victim was accused of stealing RM20,000 from a family entertainment centre. Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Md Zukir Md Isa said police took action on the premise based on public information. They had to cut the padlock to get into the two-storey building where they found the victim handcuffed and his right leg chained on the first floor. The man had bruises and wounds on several parts of his body. Police found several items believed to be used to torture the victim, including a cane, iron pipe, a pair of handcuff, iron chain and dried chillies. Three suspects, aged between 29 and 44, have been remanded to assist in the investigations. "The 44-year-old suspect admitted that the victim was beaten because he had denied stealing money from the entertainment centre," said ACP Md Zukir. The victim was also detained for not having valid travel documents.
