Authorities raid treatment centre following patient’s RM32,800 bill

An Islamic treatment centre in Jasin which had billed a patient more than RM30,000 for treatment, was raided by the Domestic Trade Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry and the state religious department on Sunday. The ministry raided the centre after the patient’s receipt for RM32,800 went viral on social media.

Authorities issued a notice under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act to the centre’s owner, who has been ordered to justify the exorbitant bill. Among the treatments listed in the receipt were RM10,000 for a nerve problem, another RM10,000 swollen kidneys and RM5,000 for treatment of diabetes.
