A heavily-pregnant woman, whose court case went viral after she was jailed for stealing for her children, has been released by the Kota Baru High Court on Wednesday. The accused, who is eight months into her pregnancy, was released after judge Ahmad Bache lightened the jail sentence from 14 days to three days. Ahmad Bache reviewed the judgment made by Magistrate Ahmad Adha' Amir Yasser Amri on Aug 8, which had received mixed reactions from netizens. The accused, Tuan Maziham Yasma Tuan Abdul Wahab, 38, had pleaded guilty for stealing goods, including children's slippers, clothing and baby gloves worth RM165 from a supermarket on March 20, 2009.
