Police have always welcomed public cooperation to help authorities address crime, but cautioned such efforts not to go beyond the law. Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the efforts of a group of five men who helped to solve six missing persons cases were highly appreciated. He was commenting on the group known as Keme Oghang Sayong, who helped to track down missing persons without charging any fees. It was reported that the men, aged between 37 to 52 years old, had day jobs but turned into private investigators at night. Zainuddin said it was the prerogative of family members to seek the group's help, but should also bear any possible risks involved and advised them to work with the police instead. He also said the group should share any information they obtained with the police.
