A motorcycle repair shop in Sungai Petani was splashed with blue paint allegedly by two young men who were angry at not receiving ang pow from the shop’s owner. The owner, who operates the shop in Taman Intan said the duo had brought mandarin oranges and paid him a visit on Sunday at around 4pm, and proceeded to ask for ang pow. “As I did not know them and could not guess the purpose of their visit, I refused to give them anything and they left,” the shop owner said. He said his shop was splashed with paint shortly after that, and that he had lodged a police report over the incident.

A restaurant owner was burnt to death in her shop when a fire broke out at a three-story shoplot in Ipoh Monday. The victim’s eldest daughter recalled that she had heard screaming from her mother’s room when the fire occurred at around 4.30 pm. “She had asked me to save my three siblings, before she struggled and opened the gate at our residence, and that was exactly what I did. As soon as my siblings were all with me, I turned around for my mum, but she was no longer visible in the thick smoke,” said the 17-year old who broke the windows in the house to get her siblings out.

A couple are alleged to have gone everywhere with the woman’s two-year-old child just so they could be in close proximity by pretending they were married. The couple’s illicit activities were discovered by members of the Masjid-al Khairiyiah in Gombak when they raided the couple’s apartment unit with police on Sunday. During the raid, a 40-year-old man was found in a pair of shorts, while his partner, 25, is reported to have hid in a corner with the child. It was found that the woman, who was often seen at the condominium, is a widow, while the man was married and rented the unit without the knowledge of his wife.
