> Goldsmith in Banting robbed of RM400,000
A group of four armed robbers struck a goldsmith’s shop located in a hypermarket in Banting, Sunday morning, making off with an estimated RM400,000 in jewellery. According to a witness, one of the suspects fired warning shots in the air while another shot the floor. “I thought the four masked men were filming for a drama at the goldsmith shop. But I was frightened when they shouted before firing the shots,” the witness said. According to a police source, the heist took less than three minutes.
> Maths teacher allegedly transferred and probed for caning students
A maths teacher who reportedly caned five students has been transferred to the Ipoh state education department while investigations into the case are carried out. Perak state executive councillor Datuk Muhammad Amin Zakaria said the teacher had been asked to submit a show cause letter while the students involved have been sent for counselling. The teacher is reported to have admitted to the school’s headmaster and vice-principal to having caned the students.
> College student raped by man claiming to be policeman
A college student is alleged to have been raped by a man claiming to be a policeman, after she was discovered having sex with her boyfriend in a parked car in Kota Damansara. The suspect, who was with a colleague, allegedly drove the victim around demanding she pay RM2000 in return for not being arrested. The man then took her to an ATM machine before forcing her to perform oral sex on him in a public toilet. The suspect also allegedly raped the student before sending her back to her hostel. The victim lodged a police report after the suspect and his colleague continued demanding sex from her. Police sources say two men, aged 29 and 30, have been detained for further investigations.
