> Woman abducted by armed suspect but jumps out from car
A 23-year-old woman managed to escape after she was abducted at the car park of a shopping centre in Taiping. The woman, known only as Hwang, was confronted by a pistol-wielding man when she was getting out of her car at 6.20pm Wednesday. The suspect ordered Hwang to move to the passenger seat and tied her hands before speeding away with her car. Hwang was asked by the suspect to withdraw money from an ATM after she told him she had only RM50 with her. Luckily, she managed to jump out from the car when it stopped at a traffic light. She then called her family with the help of passers-by. A police report was lodged and the car was found, along with a suspect, in Seberang Prai Thursday.
> Kelantan yet to set date for tabling hudud Bill in Parliament
The Kelantan government has not yet set a date for tabling the Private Member's Bill in Parliament for hudud enforcement in the state. Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the central technical committee on hudud would make the decision after a three-day meeting in Kota Baru that started Thursday. It was reported earlier that constitutional expert Prof Datuk Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi has advised the state government to delay its plan to implement hudud in view of the rise of Islamophobia in current global affairs.
